About us
Guangzhouer is brought to you by editors Junde, Jay and Carrie.

Yu Junde aka JD aka 余俊德
I was born in Singapore to loving parents who are both teachers. Growing up, I was schooled in school and schooled at home. In 2007, an entrepreneurial streak landed me in Guangzhou. 2 years later I’m an independent web and communications consultant, and entrepreneur, still trying to make my millions but also 吃喝玩乐-ing (eat-drink-have-fun)ing at the same time.
Some say the air here is not of desirable standards, and politics here would not ascend an Obama. But I see it as Freedom, from expectations and well trodden paths from my hometown, Freedom to make big money at your own pace and ways, Freedom to live out your lifestyle. All this in a non-too-unfamiliar setting. It’s in the air.
I’ll be around here for a while. More about me on my Blog.

Jay Sun aka 孙鹏杰
My formative years were spent in Taiwan, but at the ripe age of 3, a chance to immigrate took me to the States, where I proceeded to spend too many years in Texas, in school and in school in Texas. In retrospect, I can’t form an opinion about this because it’s fairly recent, but currently I’m negatively biased. Although, I would say that I am negatively biased in general, though I generally avoid speaking in generalities.
Several years ago, I was touring China, both as a tourist and as a musician, when a job opportunity was presented to me. Thoroughly Americanized, I’ve always felt sheepish about dropping the ball on my Chinese heritage. So, this was the chance to make amends for all my deficiencies – language, culture, lack of moral fiber. I immediately packed my bags and moved from the Dirty South of America to the Dirty South of China … beautiful, bountiful Guangzhou.
I haven’t looked back since …

Yang Jiali aka Carrie
Born, raised and schooled in Guangdong province, I am so far the only member of the team who has a Chinese citizenship.
Though I have spent all college years in Guangzhou, it was my experience in a Guangzhou based, US funded online marketing PR company that offered me the opportunity (and the money) to appreciate Guangzhou from both locals’ and expatriates’ angles.
I will be in HK to pursue a master degree from August this year. But Guangzhou will always be my second hometown and have my full attention.
